Adjourn

During the June 2003 Central Region Consortium Planning Retreat, a brainstorming session was devoted to the topic of increasing collaboration between (if you will allow the distinction) traditional vocational education and economic development entities.  The outcome of that session was the creation of a Summit.

The purpose of this Summit will be to bring together regional economic development and vocational education entities to discuss opportunities to collaborate.  During the Summit participants will address:

·         “advantages and disadvantages of working together;

·         clarification of who we are;

·         creation of a message for business / industry to increase their support/involvement beyond traditional involvement with advisory committees;

·         increased awareness of the resources and activities at each college;

·         win/win scenarios with specific examples; and

·         ways to collaborate in the future”.

The agenda for the Summit has been created in collaboration with both entities to facilitate discussions related to these topics.  Given the uncertainty of resources in the near future, I strongly encourage you to aggressively solicit participation of those individuals in your institution/unit who are most impacted.

If needed, the Central Region Consortium will reimburse Summit travel expenses for each participant.  Lunch will be provided.  For those with extended travel time to Coalinga, lodging for one night at Harris Ranch Inn will also be reimbursed by the Central Region Consortium.  Lodging reimbursement rate not to exceed $116 single occupancy room rate, plus tax.  PARTICIPANTS ARE TO SECURE OWN LODGING Ten percent discount given for reservations secured via online registration at www.harrisranch.com. Toll-free telephone number is 1-800-942-2333. TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT forms will be provided during Summit. ORIGINAL RECEIPTS are required for reimbursement.
