Based on the book, A Framework for Understanding Poverty by Ruby Payne, Ph.D., this one-day conference will provide participants with an in-depth study of information and issues that will increase knowledge and understanding of the poverty culture.  This conference is designed for educators with adaptation and application for health care, law enforcement, community, and social service audiences.

FREE admission to Steinbeck Center exhibits for all conference participants during regular museum hours (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

DIRECTIONS TO THE NATIONAL STEINBECK CENTER:

Local Directions:  Take Route 68 East, 17 miles to downtown Salinas.  Continue through Old Town to One Main Street.

From San Francisco and San Jose:

Take Highway 101 South to the Salinas Main Street exit.  Continue on North Main to 3rd light.  The Center is on the left.

From Los Angeles and Points South:

Take Highway 101 north to John St. exit.  Turn left on John St. to South Main.  Turn right on South Main and continue 5 blocks to the Center.
