The
Central Region Welcomes Monte
E. Perez, Ph.D.,
Vice
President of Student Services, Golden West College For the past
year, Dr. Monte Perez has served as the Vice President of Student
Services at Golden West College. During this time he has become involved
both in the community and on campus. He is a Board Member of El Viento,
a program providing leadership development and educational services to
elementary children, and was accepted as a participant in the Huntington
Beach Chamber of Commerce Leadership Institute. One of his goals on
campus is to spearhead the development of learning communities for
students. Monte's prior
experience is extensive, with positions in many different sectors of
education. He began his working career at Stanford University as
Assistant Director of Admissions. At California State University, Los
Angeles, he served as the Director of EOP in his early career and later
was the Director of College Development and Research. In between these
assignments he relocated to the Department of Health, Education &
Welfare in Washington D.C. where he had the opportunity to work along
side Ernie Boyer, Commissioner of Education, and Shirley Huffstedler,
Secretary of Education. He also had assignments at Rio Hondo and for the
Educational Testing Service. Most recently, he held the position of
Provost Vice President at the National Hispanic University, a new
private college in San Jose.
