CCCAOE Board Report
Gary Mendenhall, Region VP |
The Central Region will be featured on the SPLASH
page of the CCCAOE website in December 2003. We
will submit a 50 word summary highlighting an event,
to include photos. It was recommended that we
highlight the November 13, 2003 Economic Development
Summit.
The Spring 2004 CCCAOE Conference will be held at
the San Franciso Holiday Inn in the financial
district, March 3-5, 2004. This is two weeks
earlier than usual and falls only one week after the
February 26, 2004 region meeting at Modesto Junior
College. Participants agreed that the Feb. 26th
region meeting be rescheduled. Gary will contact
Dennis Gervin about rescheduling.
The Fall 2004 CCCAOE Conference will be held at the
Long Beach Hilton October 6-8, 2004.
The Tech Prep Consortium may be receiving rollover
funds from the CDE via the CCCCO, estimated at $10K
per college. In addition, the Central Region
Consortium may receive a $140,000 augmentation to be
used for regional Tech Prep. Activities. It is
estimated that $10K per college will be allotted.
When grant augmentation face sheet is received, we
will have regional discussion to devise a mechanism
to utilize the funds for directed activities.
Hazel Hill reported that SJ Delta College is working
on several DVDs that focus on career preparation.
The Central Region VP position on the CCCAOE Board
is open for nominations. Submit your name to Sue
Clark if interested in having your name placed on
the ballot for this elected position. Gary
Mendenhall currently holds this position. He
encourages others to become involved but is willing
to retain the position if no one in the region is
interested. |
Future agenda to include discussion of delivery
mechanism for augmentation funds should they be
realized. An additional meeting of the Central
Region Consortium may be scheduled for this purpose.
Gary to contact Dennis Gervin about rescheduling the
February 26, 2004 region meeting at Modesto JC,
possibly to April 2004.

WorkPlace Learning Resource Center
Susan Scaffidi, Director
Bakersfield College |
Susan reported that 120 employer surveys have been
distributed throughout the region in preparation for
the November 13, 2003 Economic Development Summit.
So far, 10 percent have been returned. The biggest
message is that the survey is serving as a marketing
tool to promote the colleges. It is anticipated
that survey responses will show opportunities/trends
in industry. |

Statewide Advisory Committee Reports:
Special Populations
Sue Clark, Coordinator
Family & Consumer Sciences
Sue Clark, Committee Member |
In response to a question regarding the availability
of special population mini-grants for 2003-2004, Sue
replied that the mini-grants will not be funded by
the CCCCO this year.
Sue provided Quarter 1 JSPAC activity report,
outlining website revisions, SERVE library
promotion, Non-Trad Careers 101 online course, and
statewide conference. Conference flyers were
distributed to all CCCAOE participants.
Sue shared information regarding upcoming FCS
professional development activities, promoted the
FCS website (www.cccfcs.com), and shared details
regarding the 2003 revision of the FCS Program
Plan. It is intended that this document be used to
facilitate articulation and program planning as it
clearly outlines the goals and new/emerging career
paths for each of the six FCS program areas. The
Program Plan document and DVD will be mailed to each
FCS voc ed dean and program manager soon. It can
also be downloaded from the FCS website.
