DEVELOPMENT CRITERIA NARRATIVE & DOCUMENTATION Attach a document that describes the development of the proposed program, addressing the five criteria as listed below. Number the sections of the narrative to match the lists below. If appropriate, you may note that a section is “not applicable” but do not re-number the sections. Provide documentation in the form of attachments as indicated.
Criteria A. Appropriateness to Mission 1. Statement of goals and objectives for existing program, including new changes. Request to add Degree for Real Estate. The college has an approved Certificate that has exactly the same requirements.
This degree will prepare students to take the Real Estate Salesperson’s and Broker’s License exams. New Option: same goals and objectives.
2. Catalog description for existing program, including new option. The Real Estate program prepares students for working as sales people in Real Estate. And the degree will prepare students to take the Real Estate Salesperson’s and Broker’s License exams. New Option: same description.
3. New requirements (list of required courses). RE 160 Real Estate Principles 3 Units RE 162 Real Estate Practice 3 Units RE 163 Real Estate Finance 3 Units RE 164 Real Estate Appraisal 3 Units RE 165 Legal Aspects of Real Estate 3 Units RE 166 Property Management 3 Units RE 167 Real Estate Economics 3 Units RE 168 Real Estate Escrows 3 Units Total Units 24 UNITS
4. Optional: Discussion of background and rationale (if needed). This Real Estate AA degree matches the present requirements for our Real Estate Certificate of Completion. The addition of the AA degree will allow student to obtain a community college degree in this discipline.
Criteria B. Need 5. Place of option in the curriculum – relation to existing program and options; relation to other programs. Request to add Degree for Real Estate. The college has an approved Certificate that has exactly the same requirements.
6. Enrollment and Completer Projections About 8 sections of core Real Estate classes are offered per year, with around 160 students, which might produce 4 degrees.
7. Optional: Discussion of impact on other colleges in region. 8. Discussion of labor market need or job availability (for career technical education only). There is a steady demand for training Real Estate students as other agents leave the profession.
Criteria C. Curriculum Standards 9. Transfer applicability to two 4-year institutions (if applicable). Attachment: Course outlines for required courses (required for all applications). Course outlines are attached.
