| OBJECTIVE No. 1
To form a consortium of colleges within the Central Region to address 1) integration of academic and vocational / technical skills of students who choose to enroll in occupational education; 2) to ensure that students enrolled in vocational / technical education receive the same rigor of academics as transfer students; and 3) program improvements in the areas of accountability, professional development, curriculum development, linkages and partnerships, support services, dissemination of public relations and resource development.
1.1 Increase the active involvement of CEOs, CIOs, CSSOs, vocational and Economic Development Administrators, Academic Senate, management information systems officers, the statewide discipline advisory Committees, and Economic Development Program Centers and Initiative Directors in regional consortium Planning.
1.2 Conduct at least six meetings with appropriate staff from each college in the region to coordinate Programs and services.
1.3 Expand professional development that provides academic and vocational faculty and counselors with the knowledge and skills required to implement economic development and workforce preparation and ensure responsiveness to members of special populations.
1.4 In collaboration with the Chancellors Office, sponsor a regional training workshop on the Economic Development Program and Vocational Education outcome measures including the consistent reporting of data elements for quarterly and final performance reports.
OBJECTIVE No. 2
To increase the visibility of vocational and technical education and economic development opportunities throughout the region.
2.1 Conduct, in coordination with the California Community College Association of Occupational Education (CCCAOE), seminars to address workforce needs.
2.2 Review and continue implementation of the current Regional Business Resource, Assistance, and Innovation Network Infrastructure Plans.
2.3 Facilitate and coordinate assistance efforts to colleges that will be used to enable members of special populations to meet state-adjusted levels of performance.
2.4 Provide support for one statewide conference for Special Populations program personnel. This may be coordinatedwith the California Department of Education.
2.5 Provide support for a statewide conference for new and/or prospective Economic Development and Vocationalation Administrators.
OBJECTIVE No. 3
To improve the linkages among vocational and technical education programs, economic development initiatives, all the Vocational and Technical Education statewide advisory committees, and statewide discipline/industry collaborative; and Workforce Investment Act boards and entities; and to disseminate best practices.
3.1 Meet at least quarterly with the Chancellors Office staff.
3.2 Meet with the Statewide Advisory Committees representatives and the VTEA Statewide Discipline/Industry Collaborative projects as designated by the Chancellors Office.
3.3 Collaborate with the VTEA Statewide Discipline/Industry Collaborative projects, Statewide Advisory Committees, Statewide Academic Senate and the Chancellors Office staff to assist in the development/implementation of statewide consortium and partnerships with the six VTEA collaborative; and to provide communication about and dissemination of VTEA collaborative activities, outcomes and products to all community college providers.
3.4 Collaborate with the Economic Development initiatives through Center and Initiative Directors.
3.5 Sponsor regional meeting/workshop for vocational and technical and economic development funded projects to promote the regional economic development plan, networking, sharing of best practices, and updates on legislative and other current events impacting the regions.
3.6 Facilitate the dissemination of information, articles, position papers, and products developed by Vocational and Technical Education and Economic Development projects to colleges, and education and economic development entities in the region. Link regional web site to the Chancellor's Office web site.
OBJECTIVE No. 4
To provide a full range of information and marketing services to the region, coordinate service delivery with other service providers, and identify gaps in services needed by the region.
4.1 Participate in statewide and regional workforce development marketing efforts; to include the coordination of all economic development funded projects in the respective region to meet specified marketing guidelines and criteria.
4.2 Build on current necessary equipment, software, and technical support to maintain Internet connections withED>Nets home page.
4.3 Facilitate the region efforts for evaluation of vocational and technical education and economic development programs,data collection and industry standards.
